PURPOSE: A variable displacement swash plate type compressor is provided to improve volumetric efficiency of the compressor by making top clearance produced between pistons and cylinder bores uniform and to maximize circulation of a refrigerant by lowering pressure demand of a crank chamber for the control of a rake angle of a swash plate. CONSTITUTION: A Variable Displacement swash plate type compressor comprises a cylinder block(110) having plural cylinder bores(110a); pistons(170) each received in the cylinder bores of the cylinder block; a front housing(120) and a rear housing each combined to the front and rear of the cylinder block; a driving shaft(140) rotatably supported to the center of the front housing; and a swash plate(150) installed to the driving shaft, with a spring(160) interposed. A circumferential groove(150a) is formed to the outer peripheral surface of the swash plate. A through-hole(150b) is formed in the middle part of the swash plate. A fitting piece(151) is projected to the front end of one side of the swash plate. A guide part(141) for guide according to a change of a rake angle of the swash plate is formed to the middle part of the driving shaft. A power transmission part(143), on which a transmitting piece(142) connected to the fitting piece is projected outward, is fixed to the front of the guide part of the driving shaft.
