PURPOSE: A method for transmitting an overhead channel in a mobile communication system is provided to transmit an overhead channel without allocating an additional Walsh code. CONSTITUTION: On a reverse link, an RRI(Reverse link Rate Indicator) containing the data rate information of a traffic packet and a sub pilot channel are transmitted in a time division method using an identical Walsh code. In this case, the RRI is located before the sub pilot channel. At this moment, the RRI is located precedently as half the field length of the RRI than the start point of the traffic packet.
