PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a telephone system capable of carrying out fingerprint authentication and call origination through depression of a call button at the call origination by adding a fingerprint authentication function to the call button. SOLUTION: The telephone system includes a telephone master unit 11 connected to an external path L1 and a telephone set T1 connected to the telephone master unit 11. The telephone set T1 has a call button 12, and the telephone master unit 11 carries out a call origination to the external path through the depression of a dial 13 after the depression of the call button 12. The call button 12 has a function as a fingerprint sensor section 14 for detecting the fingerprint data of a finger which is depressing the call button 12 as detected fingerprint data. The telephone master unit 11 compares the detected fingerprint data with registered fingerprint data registered in advance, allows a speech path switch section 20 to connect the telephone set T1 and an external path L1 when they match, and the call origination to the external path L1 by depression of the dial 13 of the telephone set T1 is carried out via the speech path switch section 20.
