PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an epoxy resin composition which causes no deposition of an epoxy resin from the solution during the preservation and has an excellent varnish stability and which can give a laminate sheet with the high resistance to heat. SOLUTION: The epoxy resin composition contains (a) a triphenylmethane type of a phenol resin which is expressed by formula (1) (wherein, n is a mean value and is a positive number of 0-1) and which has a content not less than 50 % by weight of 4,2',2''-trihydroxy(triphenylmethane) contained in the trihydroxy(triphenylmethane) at the time of n=0 therein and (b) an epoxy resin which is expressed by formula (2) and can be obtained by reacting with epichlorohydrin.
