PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording method and a recorder in which accurate recording can be effected by eliminating the feed error of a recording medium when crop recording is performed or not performed, and recording is performed only on the recording medium as much as possible especially when crop recording is performed. SOLUTION: At least any one of left end and right end of a recording medium being fed is detected using a sensor, end position of the recording medium thus detected is compared with a reference position assumed with regard to the recording medium. Based on the comparison results, recording is performed by shifting the applying section of a signal for driving a recording head such that recording is performed on the inner side of the recording medium as compared with the end part position thereof or limiting provision of a recording signal to that recording head.
