PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a work roll for rolling which is used for rolling an aluminum sheet, has prolonged service life and enables the surface quality of products to be improved and a rolling method using the same. SOLUTION: This work roll for rolling is provided with: a film 6 Vickers hardness Hv of which is≥500 and the average film thickness of which is 1-20μm on the surface of the barrel part of the roll main body 5; and a film 7 the average film thickness of which is 0.05-0.5μm and which contains at least aluminum and its oxide on the surface of the film 6, wherein the arithmetic mean roughness Ra in the axial direction of the roll on the outermost surface of the film 7 is 0.1-2.0μm. In the rolling method using the same, the state of the film 7 is controlled in the optimum conditions by rotating the roll while bringing a brush which is freely rotatable into contact with the surface of the barrel part of the work roll for rolling.
