PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide plasma welding equipment capable of performing smooth transfer from a pilot arc to a main arc and assuring welding quality at the time of main arc ignition. SOLUTION: The plasma welding equipment is so constituted that the smooth transfer from the pilot arc to the main arc is made possible, the occurrence of welding defects, such as pits and burn-through, can be prevented by suppressing the energy density at the time of transfer, and the suppressing of the energy density is made possible and the occurrence of the welding defects, such as the pits and the burn-through can be prevented by measuring the main arc voltage at the time of the main arc transfer and adequately controlling the main arc output in spite of a change in the distance between a tip and a base metal.
