A drum type washing machine, wherein a water tank (8) is disposed in an outer box (1), a drum (15) is disposed in the water tank (8) rotatably about an axis extending in a generally horizontal direction, a drum cover (16) is installed on the body part (15a) of the drum (15) so as to open/close an opening part (15c) formed in the body part (15a), and an inner cover (10) is installed at the upper part of the water tank (8) so as to open/close an opening part (8a) formed in the water tank (8), characterized in that the drum cover (16) and the inner cover (10) are closed based on the closing operation of the inner cover (10).
