<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air cleaner, in which an auxiliary dust-collecting structure is arranged at the preceding stage to a filter to lighten a dust-eliminating load on the filter so as to prolong the life of the filter and reduce noises from a driven blower. <P>SOLUTION: According to this air cleaner, an airflow, from which dust is to be eliminated, is sucked from respective slits (19) functioning as suction inlets into a dust-collecting space (15), and is converted into a circling airflow flowing along the inner circumference of a circular cylinder board (17) by a partition board (20) and ribs (19e) formed on respective slits (19). As the airflow circles, a centrifugal force works, moving relatively heavy dust in the airflow toward the inner circumferential surface of the circular cylinder board (17), thus sticking the heavy dust on the inner circumferential surface or near parts of the cylinder board (17) to eliminate the heavy dust from the airflow. As a result, a large part of the dust in the airflow is eliminated before the airflow passes an air intake hole (18) at the center of a vent board (16) to reach the filter (7). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
