PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power supply receptacle for stopping the supply of a current to a plug in the case where cord short circuit arises. SOLUTION: A resistor 3 and a switch 6 are installed in an electric circuit 2 connected to a receiving blade 1, and an overcurrent detecting circuit 4a comprising an absolute value circuit 9, an amplifying circuit 10, and a comparator 11, an electric circuit tripping circuit 5 and a power supply circuit for driving them are installed. A current detected with the resistor 3 as a voltage value is full-wave rectified with the absolute value circuit 9, amplified, then compared with a a threshold value with a comparison circuit 11a, and if the rectified current exceeds the threshold value, it is judged that the cord short-circuit arises, and the switch 6 is opened with the electric circuit tripping circuit 5.
