PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rope drive mechanism less producing slippage between a pulley and a rope and capable of suppressing the wear of the pulley and the rope. SOLUTION: In this rope drive mechanism, a belt 8 is stretched across a drive pulley 5 rotatingly driven by an outer rotor motor 6 and a driven pulley 7 rotatably supported on the drive pulley 5. A plurality of traction ropes 3 are wound on the periphery of the driven pulley 7 in close contact with the surface of the belt 8 wound on the outer peripheral surface of the driven pulley 7.
