PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for driving a warp beam, designed to adjust warp tension to a target tension more accurately based on a shorter start-up preparation time. SOLUTION: The method for driving the warp beam comprises the following procedure: A certain low speed is set in advance for driving the warp beam at the low speed. In preparing the start-up, the warp beam is first driven at a higher speed than the low speed so as to bring a warp tension close to the target tension, and the speed of the warp beam is then reduced to the low speed, and the low speed is maintained thereafter.
