PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To intercept UV-rays from a UV light source easily and inexpensively during a period when a carriage exists in the nonrecording region of an image. SOLUTION: Two shutters 17 and 18 each having a turnable upper edge part are arranged on respective cases 13 and 14 of a carriage 6, and a rod 19 is stretched between the lower end parts of the shutters 17 and 18. A wall 41 abutting against the right end part of the rod 19 is arranged at a specified position in the region of a recording medium where each recording head 7-10 cannot record an image. When the carriage 6 moves from the recording region to the nonrecording region of image, right end part of the rod 19 abuts against the wall 41 and the rod 19 is pushed back to the left. Consequently, the shutters 17 and 18 turn to intercept UV-rays from UV light sources 15 and 16. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
