PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide raw material for a tea beverage causing no secondary precipitation even when long preserved, and suitable for producing a packaged tea beverage. SOLUTION: The raw material for a tea beverage is obtained by the following process: extracting tea leaves with boiling ion-exchanged water at a predetermined ratio/predetermined pH based on the tea leaves for predetermined period of time, cooling the tea leaves followed by adding the ion-exchanged water to make the beverage have a predetermined amount, and measuring a concentration of strictinin contents contained in the extracted liquid so that the concentration of strictinin contents contained in the tea leaves is lower than a predetermined value. Using the raw material results in obtaining such a packaged tea beverage as not to cause secondary precipitation even when preserved for a long period of time. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
