PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for cutting a coral reef off by which a part of the coral reel present on a comparatively flat seabed such as a coral reef lagoon at a fringing reef, a patch reef and a table reef is cut off with an epiphytic base by an extremely simple operation. SOLUTION: A part of the coral reef 10 present in a sea area including a sand layer 14 formed nearly horizontally in a seabed layer is cut off with the epiphytic base 12a by utilizing the sand layer 14 in the method for cutting the coral reef off. As a result, the part of the coral reef 10 can be easily cut off with the epiphytic base 12a from the ground because the sand layer 14 is utilized as the boundary in the horizontal direction.
