A message managing method and an apparatus thereof are provided to delete an existing message having contents overlapped with a received message, automatically, thereby efficiently managing the memory space. If a message is received(401), it is determined whether a template mode is activated(403). In case the template mode is in a idle state, a controller stores a received message(413). If the template mode is in an activated state, the controller parses the received message(405) and traces a template corresponding to the message(407). The controller whether the template corresponding to the received message exists(409). If so, the controller traces and deletes the existing message corresponding to the template(411) and then stores the received message(415).
