APPARATUS FOR TREATING GLAUCOMA BY CONTROLLING AN OUTFLOW OF AQUEOUS HUMOR BY USING ELECTRO-ACTIVATED HYDROGEL TUBE

PURPOSE: Provided is an apparatus for treating glaucoma by controlling the amount of aqueous humor flowed out from a ciliary body by using the change of the diameter of an electro-activated hydrogel tube; and for solving a problem of aqueous humor outflow resistance by fibroblast after image surgical removal or an adverse reaction caused by using a mitomycin C or 5-FU. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus for treating glaucoma comprises an activation portion(3) for controlling the amount of the aqueous humor flowed out through the outer of an anterior chamber; an electrode portion(7) electrically connected to one side of the activation portion and for supply the electrical stimulation to the activation portion; a control function generation portion for applying the control function to the electrode portion(7) and supplying the electrical stimulation to the activation portion(3); and a control portion for generating a control signal to control the control function generation portion to be supplied to the generation. The control portion generates the control signal corresponding to a predetermined opening and shutting period of the activation portion. One side of the tube is positioned at the outer of the anterior chamber, and the other side is positioned at the outside of the eyeball. The diameter of the tube is changed in accordance with the electrical stimulation.
