<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify the setting and operation management even when the number of clients is increased, to realize high security performance, and to extend a tunnel employing the IPsec technology up to a sub-network. <P>SOLUTION: An authentication server 10 authenticates a client 3 in response to an authentication request of the client 3 when e.g., the client 3 in an open network 1 accesses a department network 32.
