PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the shut-off time of a shut-off valve to be used in a vacuum die casting apparatus. SOLUTION: In the shut-off valve device, a piston 36 is disposed in a cylinder 40, and the inside of the cylinder 40 is demarcated into a first chamber 34 and a second chamber 35 by the piston 36. A valve 30 is moved linked with the movement of the piston 36. When the piston 36 is moved to the left, the valve 30 becomes an open state. When the piston 36 is moved to the right, the valve 30 becomes a closed state. The configuration that the valve 30 becomes the open state by supplying fluid into both the first chamber 34 and the second chamber 35 of the cylinder 40 can be switched to the configuration that the valve 30 becomes the closed state by discharging fluid from the first chamber 34 of the cylinder 40 while supplying fluid to the second chamber 35 of the cylinder 40.
