LIGHT SOURCE EQUIPPED WITH ORGANIC LAYER AND PHOTOLUMINESCENT LAYER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic luminescent device combined with a layer of a photoluminescent material with a comparatively large area. SOLUTION: A light source is provided with the organic luminescent device emitting light with a first spectrum and a phosphor layer emitting a second spectrum by absorbing part of the light emitted by an organic luminescent layer. The organic luminescent device is provided with the organic luminescent layer arranged between a pair of electrodes, and at least one charge blocking layer arranged between the organic luminescent layer and one of the electrodes. The phosphor layer normally absorbs light less than the total light emitted by the organic luminescent layer, and normally covers a whole of the organic luminescent device. The light emitted from the organic luminescent layer is mixed with the light emitted by the phosphor layer to produce light with a third spectrum. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
