PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color cathode-ray tube with a shadow mask having sufficient mask curved-surface strength against external force and having good image quality. SOLUTION: The shadow mask 7 is formed by overlapping a main mask 14 and an auxiliary mask 20. The main mask has an effective part in which electron beam through holes are formed almost over the whole area of a phosphor screen. The auxiliary mask is overlappingly fixed in an area including a minor axis of the effective part of the main mask. A curvature radius in a direction of a major axis of the area where the auxiliary mask of the shadow mask is fixed is larger than a curvature radius in a direction of a major axis of an area where the auxiliary mask is not fixed.
