For the generation of source audio data, the signal data for a preset number of actual scanning values are interpolated for generating several interpolated scanning values. From the actual and interpolated scanning values, those repeated w.r.t. their signal pattern during mutual incorporation are used, whose amplitude are most densely together. A filter assembly, used for the interpolation, consists of a given number of filter sets of a specified order for finding digital data for the preset number of interpolating points, lying within a scanning period at a given scanning frequency of the digital input data. Thus interpolation data with a frequency-dependent resolution are generated with the filter sets each having the same amplitude characteristics.
