<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively provide a compact image forming apparatus capable of performing double-sided printing on a thick medium at a low cost. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is equipped with a recording medium carrying means 119 carrying a recording medium, an image forming part 107 transferring a toner image to the recording medium carried by the carrying means 119, a fixing part 108 fixing the toner image transferred to the recording medium, a medium re-carrying means 113 reversing the carrying direction of the recording medium on which the toner image is fixed and carrying it to the image forming part 107 again, a judging means 122 judging the kind of the recording medium based on information concerning the recording medium, and a medium speed control means 119 deciding the carrying speed of the re-carrying means 113 based on the result of judgment by the judging means 122 and controlling the re-carrying means 113 to carry the recording medium at the decided carrying speed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
