PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that a quantity of image data are divided with capacity of a hard disk device and outputted conventionally when the data are inputted from a network-connected personal computer or an automatic original input device, but an improvement in workability in processing and editing in the case that a plurality of copies are set without using a sorter in addition to the division, is not considered. SOLUTION: The apparatus includes a CPU for storing image data for all inputted pages in the hard disk device successively for one block composed of a plurality of predetermined pages less than or equal with the capacity of the hard disk device, for outputting images for one block as many as the set number of copies when the image data for one block are completely stored, releasing the hard disk device, and storing image data for the next one block into the hard disk device. When the output condition indicates a double side recording mode, the CPU divides the image data to be formed on front and rear sides of a paper sheet into blocks so as not to be spread over different blocks.
