PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a belt fixing device which makes the driving torque of a fixing belt smaller by decreasing frictional resistance with a nip forming member. SOLUTION: A belt fixing device 10 is equipped with: an endless sheet type fixing belt 12; a nip forming member 20 fixed and arranged inside the belt 12 so that it cannot rotate; and a rotatable pressure roller 50 press-contacting with the member 20 through the belt 12 and forming a fixing nip 40 at its contact part with the belt 12. The belt 12 is driven to rotation while sliding on the member 20. A belt non-contact part 24 is provided at a part other than a nip forming part 22 out of the belt sliding surface of the member 20.
