PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a distance measurement device capable of simultaneously and accurately measuring the distance to and relative velocity of a measurement target object whether the relative velocity between the measurement target object and a distance measurement system is zero or not. SOLUTION: This distance measurement device 10B has a well-known configuration having an electromagnetic wave generator 11B comprising a transmission part 4 and a frequency control part 5, a transmitter 12B, a signal processor 14B and a detector 13B. In this case, the signal processor 14B directs control for a frequency f of a transmission signal transmitted by the transmission part 4 of the electromagnetic wave generator 11B to the frequency control part 5 to variably control it, detects an amplitude SP of a standing wave S, calculates a signal corresponding to the detected amplitude, and simultaneously calculates the distance (an interval) d to the detector 13B from the measurement target object M, and the relative velocity v between the distance measurement device 10B and the measurement target object M, on the basis of a calculation result thereof.
