PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress occurrence of any electromagnetic imbalance. SOLUTION: An electric power steering device has an electric motor for providing the steering assist force to a steering mechanism based on the steering torque generated in a steering shaft. The electric motor 10 comprises: a yoke 16; a permanent magnet 18 fixed to an inner circumferential wall of the yoke 16; an output shaft 24 which is turnably arranged in the yoke 16; an armature 28 which is fixed to the output shaft 24 while a coil winding 40 is wound around a slot 38 formed in an outer circumferential surface of a core 26 in a wave winding manner; a commutator 30 having a plurality of segments 34 fixed to the output shaft 24 adjacent to the armature 28; and a plurality of brushes 32 which are brought into contact with any one of segments 34.
