PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an agent for preventing the damage to clothes by the larva of clothes moth, webbing clothes moth, and the like, by suppressing the oviposition of imago to eliminate the biting damage from the source. SOLUTION: The oviposition of clothes moth is remarkably suppressed by a clothes moth oviposition suppressing agent containing 4-hydroxy-6-methyl-3-(4-methylpentanoyl)-2-pyrone. This invention provides an agent containing 4-hydroxy-6-methyl-3-(4-methylpentanoyl)-2-pyrone for suppressing the oviposition of clothes moth, the use of 4-hydroxy-6-methyl-3-(4-methylpentanoyl)-2-pyrone for suppressing the oviposition of clothes moth and a method for suppressing the oviposition of clothes moth by using 4-hydroxy-6-methyl-3-(4-methylpentanoyl)-2-pyrone.
