A collapsible seating device comprises a rectangular frame 1, a series of collapsible seats 2 adapted to be mounted one behind the other on the frame and a collapsible footrest 5 for each seat, the seats 2 and footrests 5 being so adapted that when they are collapsed they are retained in the frame. A leg frame 3 is pivoted at 4 to each end of the seat 2, Fig. 3, in such a manner that the leg frames can be folded flat against the underside of the seat 2. Each leg frame 3 has a pair of flanges 6, Fig. 4, slotted at 7 to engage the horizontal flange 8 of the frame 1. Each leg 3 has a pair of apertures 9 so that the legs may be held in erected position by engaging the apertures 9 over waisted studs 10 projecting from the frame 1. The legs 3 are locked to the frame 1 by a lever 11 having slots 12 engaging over the studs 10. Added lateral stability is provided by a pivoted member 13 which hangs down when the seat is erected to engage the inside faces of the legs 3. Footboards 15 are pivoted at 16 to a cross member mounted on the frame 1. A pivot and strut 17 supports each footboard in the erected position at an angle to the frame 1. Keyhole slots 22 are provided in the frame 1 so that it may be secured to a sloping base. Alternatively, the frame 1 may be provided with folding legs of increasing length towards the rear of the frame. |
