The dog or cat is trained to get familiar with the toilet which is provided with a container positioned underneath and either used in a similar way as the compost toilet already available for human use or filled with a chemical substance as used for a portable toilet. After use the pet itself or the owner can push a button in order to move a flap from an opening in the bottom of the toilet, allowing the waste to slide into the container. When the button is released the flap returns automatically into its prior position.
