PURPOSE: A horizontal excavator is provided to enhance the excavating speed, to excavate a base rock with a hammer mechanism, and to easily discharge earth and sand excavated. CONSTITUTION: A horizontal excavator comprises an excavating part(10) having plural hammer bits(12) coming in contact with the front ground of a steel pipe(P) projected to the outside of a hammer body(11) at predetermined intervals and having plural injection nozzles arranged among the hammer bits to inject air; a support shaft(20) supporting the hammer body of the excavating part; a hydraulic mechanism supplying compressed air to the injection nozzles at time intervals; working booms(51,52) advancing the excavating part together with the support shaft along the axial direction of the steel pipe in the working of the excavating part; advancing and retreating working booms(61,62) advancing and retreating the working booms along the axial direction of the steel pipe; and plural support legs(70,80,90) arranged along the radial direction of the steel pipe in a state capable of adjusting the length. The support legs support the advancing and retreating working booms on the inner wall of the steel pipe.
