<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for controlling use and distribution of digital works. <P>SOLUTION: A right in a usage rights grammar is a label associated with a predetermined behavior and conditions to exercising the right, a copy right (copyright) shows that a digital work may be copied, the condition to copying the digital work is that a requester transfers particular security reference, and loan rights (right of loan) is defined to restrict a work loaning period. Usage rights include a copy count condition for restricting the number of times when the rights are simultaneously used, a security class condition for ensuring that the requester has security at a proper level, an access condition for designating an access test, time specifications showing a constraint condition on a time base for rights usage and a rights code such as charge usage showing a usage fee, etc., for rights usage as well as a condition for rights usage. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
