PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coin processor capable of preventing clogging with coins to prevent the reduction of the operation rate by enabling the stable retention of coins. SOLUTION: This coin processor comprises a carrying part 10 for carrying a coin, an identification part 20 provided in the carrying part 10 to identify the characteristic of the coin to be carried, a carrying space detection means 51 for detecting the space of the coin to be carried, a sorting part 30 for sorting the coin carried by the carrying part 10 for every kind based on the identified characteristic, and a retention part 60 for retaining the sorted coin for every kind. When the coin to be carried is of the same kind as a coin carried just before by the carrying part 10, the detected coin is controlled to have a predetermined space from the coin carried just before.
