PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To return an appropriate response even to an acquiring command for a list of magnetic disk information issued to a logical volume composed of a plurality of magnetic disks different in support function. SOLUTION: A switch capable of constituting the logical volume from the magnetic disks has a calculation method and fixed value information at each attribute for inquiry about the logical volume from a host device, thereby unifies the attribute of each magnetic disk constituting the logical volume and responds to the host device as an attribute of the logical volume.
