PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas detection method to hardly generate an erroneous notification caused by gas, even when dimethyl ether contained in an insecticide or the like of a smoking type stays in a room for a long period. SOLUTION: This method includes the following processes 1-5. (1) An R1 value, an R2 value and a correction value K are determined as follows. R1: an alarming level resistance value of a gas sensor main body when a concentration of the detection objective gas reaches a concentration to issue an alarm. R2: a correction determination reference resistance value for preventing the erroneous notification from being issued by miscellaneous gases other than the erroneous notification. K: a correction value for preventing the erroneous notification from being issued, by a change in a sensor signal of the gas sensor main body with the presence of the miscellaneous gases to be judged as if exceeding the R1 value, irrespective of not reaching the concentration of the detection objective gas to issue the alarm. (2) A resistance value R3 of the gas sensor main body is measured just after switched from a low temperature period to a high temperature period. (3) The R1 is multiplied by the correction value K to bring the R1 into a corrected resistance value R1' in a measured value R2>R3. (4) A resistance value R4 of the gas sensor main body is measured in the high temperature period.
