PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stereoscopic microscope which can easily obtain dark field illumination, exhibits excellent operability, and realizes power saving. SOLUTION: A light source 6 irradiating a sample 3 placed on the surface of a glass plate 2 with illuminating luminous flux is provided in a pedestal for transmissive illumination 1 having a glass plate 2 on which the sample 3 is placed, and a plane prism attachable/detachable between the light source 6 and the glass plate 2 and constituted by arranging many prisms having a specified angle on a plane is arranged in the pedestal 1.
