PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the rotational direction of a rotor by a single sensor. SOLUTION: This rotational direction detection structure has a gear 24 fixed to the rotor as a detection target, and the sensor outputting a signal corresponding to presence/absence of teeth 24a of the gear 24 inside a detection area. The gear 24 is provided with the teeth 24a such that the teeth 24a are arranged side by side in the circumferential direction as sequentially increasing or reducing their tooth width. The rotational direction detection structure is provided with a decision means deciding the rotational direction of the rotor on the basis of a change of a duty ratio of the signal of the sensor.
