<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a surgeon efficiently perform transseptal facilitation or a perforation technique with an effective method. <P>SOLUTION: The method for performing the technique at an oval fossa (107) of a septum wall (105) of the heart includes a step to prepare a sheath (120) having a body(120a) and the main body includes a lumen (122a) extending through the body and an open end part (126) of which the position is at the distal end part (122) of the body. The body further includes at least one terminal (124) and a position sensor (128) at the distal end part of the body. The position sensor generates a signal to indicate a location of the distal end part of the main body.
