PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an auxiliary apparatus for feeding a consumable electrode which does not need any protection of a relay contact or the like and has a semipermanent life, by solving a problem that the relay has to be specifically protected agaist contact failure in fear of contact failure such as the transition phenomenon, deposition, abnormal consumption or increased contact resistance of the relay contact in the case of supplying or shutting off AC power for driving a load connected in series to the load by means of the relay contact. SOLUTION: The auxiliary apparatus for feeding a consumable electrode is equipped with an induction motor at the drive section of the apparatus which assists in feeding the consumable electrode, and the single phase AC power line for the induction motor is turned on or off via a semiconductor non-contact relay using a triac AC switch (power semiconductor device).
