PURPOSE: A muffler for a closed rotary compressor is provided to reduce noise produced from the compressor by damping specific frequency elements of noise sources by a resonator structure making use of out-of-phase. CONSTITUTION: A closed rotary compressor has annular upper and lower bearings through which a rotating shaft passes, and an annular cylinder arranged in a closed contact state between the upper and lower bearings. The outer peripheral surface of the annular cylinder is fixed to a hermetic vessel and a suction port is formed to the annular cylinder. A muffler(10) is combined to the top of the upper bearing, to damp a discharge noise of compressed gas discharged. In the muffler, a pocket-type resonator(20) having an opening opened toward a central vent hole(10a) is attached to an inner room part(13) of a neck part(12) of a curved cross-shaped bent part(11) of a cap-type body. An edge part of the resonator is attached to the cap-type body of the muffler through spot welding.
