摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a left and right wheel driving device whose driving portion is more simply constituted and which is of light weight and produces less friction loss due to idle running when driven wheels are rotated. <P>SOLUTION: Speed reducers 3L and 3R, electric motors 4L and 4R as SR motors, and brake disks 15L and 15R are housed in the hubs 2L and 2R of rear wheels 1L and 1R as driven wheels, respectively. A 4WD control unit 9 drives the electric motors by inverters 7L and 7R from the vehicle's start within a predetermined speed. When the predetermined speed is exceeded, the 4WD control unit 9 stops driving to brings the rear wheels in driven state. With this constitution, unlike in permanent-magnet motors, friction loss due to cogging torque is not produced when the rear wheels are in driven state. Further, a left and right driving device which does not have a differential gear or an electromagnetic clutch and is reduced in weight can be obtained, and the fuel economy is enhanced. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
