<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the execution of a plurality of functions by operating the same key in a personal terminal device such as a bar code handy terminal. <P>SOLUTION: When one double action key 19 of two double action keys 18 and 19 is semi-pressed or full pressed while semi-pressing or full-pressing the other double action key 18, a function different from the function assigned to the single semi-pressing or full-pressing of the one action key 19 is assigned thereto. According to this, when the one action key 19 is semi-pressed while full-pressing the other double action key 18, a marker laser is lighted to indicate a readable range in a reading object part by marker light, and when the one double action key 19 is successively full-pressed, an illuminating LED is lighted to illuminate the reading object part, and the reflected light is imaged by a CCD area sensor.
