PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new soil treatment agent, and to provide a new method for treating soil. SOLUTION: The method for treating soil comprises degrading hard-to-degrade chemical substances in the soil with the soil treatment agent. The soil treatment agent contains basidiomycetes, preferably Coriolus hirstus IFO 4917. The basidiomycetes are preferably precultured in the presence of an enzyme inducer, which is preferably Quercus serrata or lignin.
