PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an overhead for block reproduction processing when one storage device fails in a storage system for distributively storing a block group of a plurality of blocks to be stored in a plurality of storage devices. SOLUTION: One block to be stored is a redundant block for reproducing a plurality of other blocks to be stored. The storage system comprises a block writing part for storing each of the plurality of blocks to be stored and a replicated block to which any of the plurality of blocks to be stored is replicated, in different storage devices, a block reproduction part for, if a failure is detected in a non-replicated stored block, reproducing the filed stored block according to the blocks out of the plurality of stored blocks other than the failed stored block, and a reproduced block overwriting part for overwriting the replicated block or the stored block replicated to the replicated block with the reproduced stored block.
