PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a checking device and a vector checking method that can accelerate checking processing by reducing the computation amount in vector sequence checking processing. SOLUTION: Vector sequence reduction parts 1-1 and 1-2 subject input vector sequences to reduction processing to reduce the lengths of the vector sequences, and a checking part 2 checks the reduced vectors against each other. The computation amount of checking processing can be thus reduced. Alternatively, candidates are selected according to the results of checking using the reduced vectors, and the input vector sequence is checked against unreduced candidates, so that one-to-many checking can be realized with high checking accuracy maintained.
