PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving method for a liquid crystal display by which the power consumption of the liquid crystal display is reduced and crosstalks are prevented. SOLUTION: A column electrode driver determines a potential at which column electrodes should be set on the basis of display data, a signal FR indicating a driving polarity, etc., and generates a signal SIGVC indicating the potential at which the column electrodes should be set. If the SIGVC varies in level, the column electrode driver temporarily connects the column electrode to a specific capacitor and then varies it to the potential that the SIGVC indicates. Further, the column electrode driver counts how many times the level of the SIGVC varies as a SHARE counter value and sets the potential of the column electrode to V<SB>c</SB>or -V<SB>c</SB>for a timer corresponding to the SHARE counter value after a scanning period.
