TEMPERATURE MEASUREMENT DEVICE AND METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure the temperature of the top face of a piston provided inside a combustion chamber of a reciprocating engine. SOLUTION: This temperature measurement device comprises a sensor S detecting thermal radiation rays inside the combustion chamber C of the reciprocating engine, and a processing means 12 measuring a temperature inside the combustion engine C on the basis of a detection value of the sensor S. The sensor S has: a thermal radiation ray taking-in means 6 taking in direct light of the thermal radiation rays emitted from a measurement point P on the top face 2a of the piston 2 in a position wherein the measurement point P varies on the top face 2a by a reciprocation of the piston 2; and a photoelectric transducing part 8 converting the thermal radiation rays captured by the thermal radiation ray taking-in means 6 into a detection signal.
