PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a bitetrazolamine compound in a high yield safely by an industrially advantageous method. SOLUTION: The method for producing the bitetrazolamine compound comprises reacting a dicyanamide represented by general formula (1) (R is an alkali metal, an alkaline earth metal, cyano, nitro, amino or tetrazolyl) with an azide salt represented by general formula (2) (M is an alkali metal or an alkaline earth metal; n is 1 or 2) in the presence of a metal chloride in a solvent to give a bitetrazolamine metal salt compound represented by general formula (3) (R<SB>1</SB>and R<SB>2</SB>are each a metal derived from the metal chloride; X is hydrogen, cyano, nitro, amino or tetrazolyl) and then treating the compound with an acid to give the bitetrazolamine compound represented by general formula (4).
