PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an environmentally friendly method for producing a 4-alkoxybenzenesulfonamide derivative with which the number of steps is less and efficiency is good in aspects of cost, etc. SOLUTION: The method for producing the 4-alkoxybenzenesulfonamide derivative (I) represented by formula (I) (wherein, R<SP>1</SP>denotes a substituted or an unsubstituted alkyl group; R<SP>2</SP>s denote each an atom or a group substitutive in the benzene ring; and n denotes an integer of 0-4) is carried out as follows. A 4-aminobenzenesulfonamide derivative (II) represented by formula (II) is diazotized and then thermally decomposed to provide a 4-hydroxybenzenesulfonamide derivative (III) represented by formula (III). The hydroxy group in the 4-hydroxybenzenesulfonamide derivative (III) represented by formula (III) is then alkylated. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
