The fruit covering (4) is prepared on a smooth plate (7) in the desired arrangement. The plate is located with clearance (a), over and parallel with the top (11) of a spread-out dough layer (9). The plate is drawn away from beneath the fruit layer, in order to lay the fruit smoothly onto the dough layer. In a similar method, the fruit is prepared with its underside facing upward, in a dish. It is later baked with the dough, with its upper side facing upward, before removing the plate as before. The dish used, has a wall with a slot allowing the plate to be pulled out horizontally. An independent claim is included for equipment used in the method.
